Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems capture airborne contaminants such as dust, fume, mist and vapour at source before they can be breathed in. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) require employers to keep LEV in effective working order and to have it thoroughly examined and tested at suitable intervals – normally at least every 14 months.
